Pay by Bank and Donation Funds both allow organisations to donate without using a payment card, but they work in different ways.
Pay by Bank
Pay by Bank is a payment method used when making a donation through a Big Give campaign page and is only available to individual bank accounts of these banks.
The donor selects Pay by Bank during checkout and authorises the payment directly through their bank.
This can be particularly useful for larger donations that prefer to make payments directly from their bank account.
Depending on your banking arrangements, more than one person may need to approve the transaction through your bank.
Donation Funds
A Donation Fund is funding provided to Big Give in advance and our way of supporting BACS donations.
Donation Funds requires donors to create a donor account with Big Give and transfers their funds to the donor account before they can make their donation to a campaign.
Once the fund has been set up, the organisation can use the available balance to support eligible charities and campaigns.
Donation Funds are therefore useful for organisations:
- Planning to donate £500 or more using their bank account.
- If their bank requires dual approval for transferring funds.
- Plan on making multiple donations.
- Distribute a larger amount of funding through Big Give.
Unlike Pay by Bank, a Donation Fund must normally be arranged in advance.
