Why am I being asked to leave a tip to Big Give?

The Big Give is a registered charity too (1136547). To help cover our costs, we ask donors to leave an optional tip to the Big Give Trust when making a donation to help cover our core costs. As a small team of ten, we develop and operate the technology, support charities as they create and run their campaigns, and work with Champions (philanthropists, Foundations and Trusts) to encourage them to provide the match funding and ensure that the whole operation is secure and reliable. Tips play a vital part in paying towards our running costs as a charity.

Therefore, we have introduced tipping on the Big Give website as an alternative to the more traditional option of taking a percentage “platform fee” from every donation. This means more of your donation goes to charity.

There is no platform fee deducted from your donation nor match funds allocated to your donation, so we really appreciate all of the tips that go to the Big Give to help us ensure we can continue to support charities! Any money we generate in excess of our running costs and reserves goes back into providing match funding for charites.
