The Christmas Challenge returns for 2016
We’re excited to announce that there will be significant changes to the Christmas Challenge in 2016. Following consultation with charities, donors and our philanthropic partners, we are implementing changes to the Christmas Challenge model to improve the experience for charities and donors. We’re particularly excited to announce this alongside recent research demonstrating the wealth of benefits attributable to match funding campaigns. We hope that charities will be able to benefit from all that this research has shown by participating in the “new and improved” Christmas Challenge.
How will it work?
This short video explains how the campaign will work from application to the live campaign which launches on #GivingTuesday (29th November).
What is changing?
One of the key changes is that philanthropic (Champion) funds will be ring-fenced for charities this year. In the past, charities have competed against each other, but this year it is only against the clock. Charities have 72 hours from #GivingTuesday (29th November) when the campaign goes live to get online donations doubled by their matching pots.
Amongst other changes, we’ve scrapped the fees for charities for this year too, meaning more money for your cause. You can read more about the Christmas Challenge 2016 here and about all the changes here.
How to apply?
Applications will open at 12pm (midday) on Monday 13th June and charities are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Find out more here.
