We’re seeing an increase in the activity of scammers pretending to represent Big Give. From what we know so far, these have been circulating mainly via WhatsApp, and another fake website has now been made, falsely claiming to represent Big Give and offering large sums of “grant funding” to individuals and organisations.
These messages are not from us. They may appear to come from a WhatsApp business account using the Big Give logo and a similar Big Give website link, and may even use names from our publicly visible team page to appear more legitimate. Scammers typically promise significant funding in exchange for a registration fee or payment – this is fraudulent.
What You Need to Know
- Big Give does not contact anyone about funding via WhatsApp or text.
- We will never ask you to make a payment to access or secure funding from us.
- All legitimate communication from Big Give only ever comes from official email addresses ending in @biggive.org.
- If we contact you via social media, it will only be to direct you to respond via email – we do not manage accounts or offers through social media, including WhatsApp.
- Any phone or video calls (e.g. Zoom) with our team are always pre-arranged via email, and we will never request payment over the phone.
- If you receive an email from us that seems suspicious, start a new email thread directly to hello@biggive.org to confirm its legitimacy.
- We don’t work in collaboration with other donation platforms; all of our match funding is done in real-time through Big Give’s own donation functionality. Therefore, if you receive any comms around a partnership with GoFundMe or similar organisations, always confirm its legitimacy directly with hello@biggive.org.

How Big Give Works
Big Give only offers match funding directly to UK-registered charities that apply to take part in our official campaigns, such as the Christmas Challenge.
We do not run or participate in any “Grant Support System Programmes” or individual funding offers outside our official campaigns. Details of all current and upcoming campaigns can be found on our official website: biggive.org.
What to Do if You’re Contacted
If you receive a message, email, or call claiming to be from Big Give that seems suspicious:
- Do not send money or personal information.
- Take a screenshot of the message, if possible.
- Forward the details to hello@biggive.org so our team can investigate.
- If confirmed to be fraudulent, report and block the account.
